Fish Foam Review { and Giveaway }

August 6, 2012 By Jacque 15 Comments

WOW it’s been a whole week since we last posted!  Sorry time got away from us.  Matt and I were whisked away to Minnesota to learn some awesome stuff for you guys.   But before we get into any of that I want to tell you about one of my newest loves- FISH Foam Window Cleaner

Those that personally know me are more than aware of the fact that my late grandfather ‘Pops’ used to own a cleaning supply company in Waukegan, IL.  In fact he was a window washer before starting the supply company.  For years we were provided with the best of the best cleaning products.  At one point his company even distributed their own cleaning products, selling to large facilities like Six Flags.  So to say that I am no stranger to cleaning products would be a vast understatement.  I know what I like and like to share whats good!

I was lucky enough to meet some super enthusiastic FISH Foam representatives while at the Haven Conference this year.  They gave me a can of FISH Foam to try with no strings attached.  Before leaving their booth I had one major concern I had to address…

Our windows are tinted after market (yup just like on your car)  Since our windows are tinted the window cleaner has to be ammonia free.  One major issue I was finding with the ammonia free cleaners were that they leave streaks (smears) on the tinting.  No matter how hard I would scrub the streaks were still there!  They assured me this product was perfectly safe to use, so I was super excited to give it a try!

The bottom sash of most of the windows on our house stay dirty with nothing other than DOG SLIME.  Dog Slime isn’t a technical term but honestly that’s what it looks like.  Our biggest offender of dog slime on the windows is no other than Fenway!  He is incapable of standing at the window without his nose pressed firmly against it!  Other than the dog slime we have one other issue – water spots from our irrigation system.  Our lawn heads spray the front windows on our house leaving these water spots that are nearly impossible to remove.

Time to put Fish Foam to the test!  I took some before shots of various windows in our house.  Some with tinting, some without, but all with dog slime (thanks Fenway)!

Gah I cannot believe I am showing you all these pictures … totally embarrassed here!

This product is awesome!  Not only is it super easy to use it works like a DREAM!  I cannot get enough of this stuff, usually when you clean dog slime you really have to put some elbow grease into it, but not with Fish Foam.  Just spray it on and wipe it off.  It worked fabulous on our water spots, the cleaners we used to use would give the appearance that the spots were gone and then as soon as it dried they would be back, faded but back.  I had none of these issues with FISH Foam.  I liked it so much I proceeded to clean every window in our house and took a million pictures.  I’m sure the neighbors think I’m nuts me in my PJ’s cleaning windows and snapping pictures but it was just that good!

Check out my side by side before and after comparison shots!

Okay so here is the best part –

Good Luck!!!

We have three children that move like thieves in the night leaving their grimy handprints & I’m not sure, but I think the occasional lick, on all of our windows (and pretty much everything else also)!!

We just remodeled our master bathroom, and found out *afterwards* that we can’t use ammonia-based cleaners on the shower door. Fish foam is on the approved list of cleaners, and I’d love to try it out! (especially after the results shown in thediyvillage’s blog post)

Smoke on inside of vehicle. Scrub and scrub and all I get is smears. Hope this will work cuz the windex and stop smoking thing isn’t.

There is no greater culprit on getting my backdoor with glass and the glass door itself dirty than constantly going in and out with 3 boys, a pit bull that loves to smudge and us going in and out to the garden and to the coop for fresh eggs! Also… I am curious to how well this would work for a shower door!! Since we might be selling soon to move to a hopeful farm, I want that shower to to SHINE!!!! I need help on that area! I was just thinking the other day of what to use to help that shower door out. Looks like this could be it! 😉 So glad to see how well the DIY Village is coming along! *So exciting!!*

Jacs, you must of been reading my mind! I can never keep my windows clean to save my life! Windex and similar products seem to enhance the dirtiness, so I was excited to see your comparison pics!!! If it’s DIY Village approved, it must be a great product!! 😀

My 3 sons and the dog, are my greatest culprits. And I have tried windex among other brands and homemade cleaners, without any luck!

I have nose slime at my house too! Particularly on the french door to the back yard. It’s disgustingly hard to get rid of too. So glad you’re offering this giveaway!

My two little girls, aged 2 and 4, go to town on the inside while my dog and two cats make quick work of the outside windows. And we have a house with three sliding glass doors and 8 floor to ceiling windows (that are AWESOME, by the way, but show every smudge and smear).

Can’t wait to use this on all the puppy noseprints and slobber clean ups! We’ll all be able to see out of the windows again. Must be quite a product!

The biggest culprit at my house is ME! I am always touching the windows and doors. I don’t know why! Never finished growing up maybe…
